The transparent NFT royalty platform is offering fans shares in the streaming royalties of one of hip hop’s most streamed songs, “Ric Flair Drip.”

There’s no doubt that Metro Boomin and Offset’s “Ric Flair Drip” was a seminal moment for hip hop. Going 6x Platinum in the US, the duo’s wavy ode to the stylish wrestling legend took the world by storm. In the top 250 most-streamed tracks of all time on Spotify,  its everlasting appeal ensures that it continues to rack up streams and plays in the billions across the globe.

Now fans and NFT lovers can grab a slice of this iconic track thanks to the latest drop from anotherblock on December 1, 2022. This will be anotherblock’s biggest drop to date, as the platform offers 1000 NFTs at $99 a piece. Each NFT gives holders the right to a portion of the streaming royalties from “Ric Flair Drip,” thanks to anotherblock’s collaboration with producer Bijan Amir.

“This is my first foray into web3 and crypto. I wanted to do something meaningful, when I did. I saw other producers I respected and trusted working with anotherblock, and it felt right,” Amir explains. “I love the idea of fans getting a share of my rights, instead of me selling a share of my masters to some investor.”

“Every drop is bigger and sells out faster. Our secondary market for NFTs is thriving, bucking the downward trend of many other projects,” says anotherblock co-founder and CEO Michel D. Traore. “We see this as clear proof that these NFTs are providing real value to holders, and that owning a share of a track like ‘Ric Flair Drip’ means a great deal to fans.”

“Ric Flair Drip” was the culmination of years of hard work and slow networking for producer Amir, who put together the melody at the prompting of Metro Boomin. When Amir sent some of his ideas, Metro was all about one of them. The track came together, featuring a knock-out performance by Offset, paying tribute to professional wrestler Ric Flair’s unforgettable style.

The track caught fire when it first dropped in 2017. “Metro Boomin was doing 20 million songs sold at the time. Migos were going crazy, and this was the first time Offset had done solo work. The track had a different sound and tempo, a different bounce,” notes Amir. “It was a mix of the timing, the sound of the record, and the hype behind these guys. It’s a good song, but it was the perfect storm.”

Now Amir hears from strangers how they love lifting or running to “Ric Flair Drip,” how it’s got a permanent place on their playlists. “People tell me it’s one of their favorite rap songs of all time,” Amir laughs. “It’s so surreal to hear that.”

anotherblock’s upcoming drop features Walker, a DJ/electronic producer with deep gaming cred, and demonstrates how rightsholders can maximize music IP’s value via NFTs.

anotherblock, the fast-growing marketplace for music royalty NFTs, is following on its first rapid-fire sell out drops to offer shares in the streaming income from Alan Walker’s track, “Alone, Pt. II,” a pop-perfect ballad with vocals by Ava Max. Each of the 500 anotherblook NFTs gives holders the rights to 0.001% share of streaming revenue from the song. The drop hits October 20, 2022 and will be anotherblock’s biggest yet, totaling at least $44,000.

This drop is the result of a partnership between anotherblock and The Very Good, a music management and publishing company based in Stockholm. It’s an example of how web3 can work for rightsholders in new and exciting ways. “Publishers are always striving to make the most of their catalog, while still honoring songwriters’ visions and engaging fans as much as possible,” explains anotherblock co-founder and CEO Michel D. Traore. “Royalty NFTs offer publishers a way to monetize their IP without sacrificing other business models. It’s an additional source of revenue that also reinforces an artist or composer’s brand with fans.”

“We’ve been exploring web3 options and are truly excited to work with anotherblock to issue our first music royalty NFTs,” explains Jakob Emtestam, founder of The Very Good. “We have an innovative track record and felt this partnership, with an artist like Alan Walker in the mix, was a great first step into this democratization of music rights and royalties.”

Walker’s work and life encapsulate the web3 music community’s overlapping love of games, music, and collectibles. An electronic producer with a massive YouTube following and several platinum singles, Walker is also a passionate gamer who let some of his early music be used freely by gamers. He’s held shows in League of Legends, launched his own mobile game, and become a playable character in PubG. “He’s a great cultural fit for our community,” Traore notes.

“One of the most widely discussed benefits of web3 is for artists, who can do more things with their rights, and for fans, and the direct relationship that results from these interactions. For the right tracks, publishers can also take an entirely new and potentially valuable approach, one that reaches fans and turns them into financial supporters,” says Traore. “We’re entering a whole new era of IP monetization and democratized access to rights as assets that will change the game for the better for publishers.”

anotherblock is excited to welcome Takayuki Suzuki as an advisor informing the company’s work in the Japanese market. Japanese fans have embraced music NFTs, and Suzuki has been a pioneer in harnessing this wave of enthusiasm.

Suzuki brings with him decades of experience in the music business as an executive with international companies such as MTV Japan, Universal Music Group, and others. He has consulted numerous industry groups on marketing and tech strategies for media, most recently focusing on NFT and metaverse spaces as CEO of companies MetaTokyo and ParadeAll. His work as a director of copyright administration organization JASRAC gives him particular insight into issues of artistic ownership. Suzuki has given talks to audiences worldwide, most recently speaking at Meta Festival, Wallifornia Music & Innovation Summit, and NFT Show Europe.

As a market lead for anotherblock, Suzuki joins a growing community of artists and creators who believe in a more democratized way forward for the music industry. “Web3 is providing a way for new forms of expression, global distribution, and engagement,” says Suzuki, “not only to established artists, but also upcoming artists.”

“We’ve seen so many Japanese music fans get engaged on Discord or become NFT holders,” explains anotherblock co-founder and CEO Michel D. Traore. “Taka will help us understand this market, one he knows inside and out, and will give us invaluable guidance as we push to expand our presence in Japan.”

anotherblock’s recent drops prove its vision for music rights in web3. Its genesis drop, an original collaborative track between dance icons R3HAB and Laidback Luke, sold out in under 40 minutes, while its latest offering, a share of The Weeknd track “Acquainted” from GRAMMY-winning producer DannyBoyStyles, sold out in 4 minutes. Suzuki notes this demand and is drawn to anotherblock’s focus on rebalancing the power structures long accepted in music. “I see anotherblock as a startup with a clear vision and a creator-friendly atmosphere,” he remarks. “I believe in the important values they’re adding to the industry ecosystem.”

As a member of the anotherblock team, Suzuki will play a key role in growing the anotherblock community in the Japanese marketplace, a major hub for web3 and NFT developments. This growth will promote web3 transformation of music and democratization of music rights on a global scale.

“Web3 is a way for Japanese artists and creators to engage fanbases and supporters all around the world without frictions like distance and currency,” explains Suzuki. “Web3 tools and platforms should help us to build new types of artistic careers in general, and anotherblock is exactly one of the tools that Japanese artists and creators should explore.”

Producer DannyBoyStyles is offering shares of his portion of the streaming royalties from The Weeknd’s classic track “Acquainted,” the biggest song ever to be featured in royalty NFT drop.

anotherblock is continuing to push for greater democratization of music rights by offering its access to one of the biggest tracks ever made available via an NFT platform.

Producer DannyBoyStyles is offering the anotherblock community a share of his streaming royalties from “Acquainted,” performed by The Weeknd. The drop will be an edition of 400 NFTs. Each NFT will cost approximately $108 each for a 0.0025% share in DannyBoyStyles’ streaming royalties. Pre-sale starts September 22, 2022 at 6 PM CET/ noon ET/ 9 AM PT

“This is another way to give power back to the creators,” explains DannyBoyStyles. “For me, sharing ownership of this track on anotherblock represents freedom and connection. Together, we’re creating all these possibilities for music makers and lovers.”

DannyBoyStyles won a GRAMMY for his production and writing work on “Acquainted.” Regularly hitting the top of lists of The Weeknd’s best songs, “Acquainted” is a moody, bittersweet classic that Billboard dubbed a “generational love-song” for millennials. This song is one of the biggest ever offered as part of a royalty NFT drop. “I love the feel of this record, the energy of it,” DannyBoyStyles notes. “Something about it just draws you to it.”

This drop is the second from anotherblock, following its genesis drop in August, which featured shares of royalties for the first collaboration by dance music legends R3HAB and Laidback Luke. The drop, released on the same day it was launched on DSPs, sold out in 40 minutes, despite a challenging climate for music NFTs in general. The value of anotherblock NFTs has continued to grow thanks to a vibrant secondary market on the platform, demonstrating the power of this new tech to give fans more access to music rights and to expand recordings’ revenue potential for creators.

“This is the biggest royalty NFT drop in history,” explains anotherblock CEO and co-founder Michel D. Traore. “We wanted to work with Danny to share royalties for this track because it’s a great track that fans value. We see fans holding anotherblock NFTs as an extension of their connection to a specific song, an added layer of intimacy with their favorite artists. NFTs truly expand what music rights can do.”

anotherblock has taken another step toward democratizing music rights via web3, selling out its genesis drop in 40 minutes. Worth a total of approximately $22,000, the edition of 250 NFTs gives holders the right to collect a portion of the streaming revenues (5% total, 0.02% per NFT) from the first collaboration between two dance music legends, “Weekend  on a Tuesday” by R3HAB and Laidback Luke.

This warm reception contrasts with the overall wintry atmosphere plaguing crypto and NFT initiatives, signaling genuine interest in web3 offerings with real value behind them. “We’re thrilled that the community response was so swift and enthusiastic to this first offering,” enthuses Michel D. Traore, anotherblock co-founder and CEO. “To us, it reflects the real demand among fans for a more artist-forward and participatory music economy, as well as validation of our model.”

The next phase of anotherblock will bring regular drops of music royalty NFTs for hit songs, approximately one a month for the rest of 2022. Drops will include shares in favorite tracks from big-name artists and GRAMMY-winning producers. Future holders can sign up via anotherblock.io or join the Discord community to find out what’s coming. anotherblock will also be rolling out helpful tools that let NFT holders understand the value of their wallet in a transparent way.
